Attached is the instruction for the project and the completed project. I would like the project reviewed and add something so a reference can be added.

Critical Thinking Response SARA
Overview
As a patrol officer, my main goal is to address the array of issues such as public disorder, prostitution, and drug use at a beat near a major highway truck stop. The complaints from the diner and parents and illegal activities at the truck stop require a strategic SARA approach so that everything can be brought back to normal. The SARA (scanning, analysis, response, and assessment) approach will be used to effectively tackle these challenges.
Scanning
The main purpose of scanning is to identify the problem scope and the effects that it is exerting on the community. The goal is to reduce the criminal activity at the truck stop and make the area clean and safe for the community.
Problem Identification
1. The truck stop area is frequented by truckers, and the downside is that it has become a drug use and prostitution hub.
2. Complaints have been filed by the diner patrons and parents regarding the issue, and there are syringes that they see due to drug use, and this poses a risk to the community.
3. The impacted areas include the diner, where parents do not feel comfortable bringing their children as they get exposed to illegal activities.
Analysis
To comprehend the dynamics and root causes of the issues. The crime data will be collected by reviewing police reports on panhandling, drug-related arrests, and prostitution. This will help in analyzing the time during the day or week the activities increase. Engaging in conversations with parents and diner patrons will help understand the main concerns and get a one-on-one perspective. Lastly, conducting patrols will help take notes on truck stop activity patterns and jot down the specific areas where panhandling, prostitution, and drug use occur. This will also include noting the demographics of the individuals involved. The contributing factors might be the location, the lack of visibility from police, and social issues like economic hardships. The hypothesis is that the truck stop area is a low-oversight location that allows truckers and other individuals to engage in criminal activity because of a lack of police presence and CCTV surveillance or private security personnel.
Response
This step allows for solutions to be developed and implemented after the analysis. The short-term strategies include increased patrols and collaboration with the diner patrons to install CCTV cameras in the identified high-activity areas. The long-term strategies include community outreach and partnering with social services to help reform drug users and prostitutes and give them safe housing programs. Lastly, doing undercover operations to help bust illegal activities could help stop crime.
Assessment
The main goal of assessment is to evaluate how effective the responses are after implementing the solutions so that necessary adjustments can be made. The evaluation methods that can be used in this case include crime statistics, visual observation, and community feedback. Crime statistics can be assessed by comparing the number of complaints, arrests, and incidents reported prior to and after the interventions. If there is a decline in the aforementioned metrics, then this would be an indicator of progress. Visual observation would be done by patrolling the area and assessing whether the syringes and prostitutes can be seen as much as they were before the interventions were implemented. A reduction in the number of syringes spotted, general cleanliness of the area, and the lack of prostitutes in sight would mean that the interventions are working. Lastly, collaborating with the parents and diner patrons to get their perception of safety after the interventions and whether they have seen any improvements would help assess their effectiveness.
If the illegal activities do not decrease, then adjusting the patrol patterns would help, along with doing more undercover work. Also, bringing in more social support programs would help since this is a social issue. The anticipated results of this plan are success being indicated by reduced illegal activity, improved safety, and increased community trust and engagement. Parents should be able to feel safe taking their children to eat and play at the diner, and patrons should also feel safe because they are no longer being harassed by the panhandlers.

Culminating Assignment
Problem Solving Scenario
Create a written plan using the SARA model to address the crime and disorder problem outlined in this presentation.
Upload the plan for grading.
You should create something that is quality; a work product that could be applied in a real-world situation.
Outline each step. Provide supporting logic/thoughts.
Follow each step in the model: Scanning, Analysis, Response, Assessment.
Clearly the actual assessment-step results cannot be measured, so in the your report outline how your results would be verified in a real-world setting.
THE SITUATION
You are a patrol officer assigned to a beat that has a truck stop located near a major highway.
Hundreds of trucks park in the lot.
Prostitution is reportedly common.
Drug use is reportedly common.
At this particular truck stop there is a fast-food restaurant.
Your supervisor has been receiving complaints from parents about the location.
The complaints generally are about seeing the drug syringes and “ladies of the night.”
Parents are not happy they can’t stop in with their children for food and a romp in the play area without seeing these things. The kids are not happy either.
There is also a diner near the truck stop.
Patrons are complaining to your supervisor about the same things the parents were calling about.
The are also being “harassed” by panhandlers near the restaurant.
The diner patrons are also not happy.
Your supervisor tells you to work on this Problem-Oriented Policing matter, apply the SARA model, and submit a report to him with recommendations.
Your supervisor is a stickler, and expects you to put in the effort to “do this assignment right.”
Apply SARA.
