To what extent, if at all, can organizational cultures be created and actively managed by leaders.

The extent to which an organizational culture can be created and actively managed by a leader is highly contingent upon the resources available to that company to direct in that particular realm. The culture of an organization can be as unique, or as common place as the executives of that business deem necessary. If every company took the perspectives of Apple, and implemented not only the organizational style, presentation style, and overall structure of their home office, the world would be a drastically different place if this was the go to parameter for business dealings. On the other hand, you here frequently how companies are re-distributing funds to help increase their stock price and does benefit strictly the stockholders, and have their focus be strictly on profits. Sysco foods, is a prime example of streamlining and utilizing digital resources to achieve a higher stock price. They took the position of letting go all of their accounting services, and outsourcing them. Releasing all of their buyers for their warehouses, and used an AI program that deals with par levels as their initial form of ordering, and limited their sales staff to strictly data input specialists, and took away the vast majority of their training for food service, as well as the necessary information to be helpful in menu development and restaurant success. Their focus went from being a service that could be highly utilized in any H&R situation, to a steady reliable stock that people could invest in. These type of decisions are based on the executives in charge that look to the future for their company, and decide where they wanna be and what they wanna be known for going forward. The most common response always seems to be that they get the stock price as high as they can so that they can cash out on their platinum parachute and retire from the executive position with millions in the bank. Perhaps the most obvious example of revolutionary thinking by a company would be the utilization of rockets as a repeatable resource, rather than a discardable object. SpaceX is taking the most expensive part of getting outside earths gravitational pole, and turned it into a renewable resource that has become a transportation company not only for the government, but for other entities that wish to enter the space race. That type of thinking, and those utilization of resources, or strictly due to the executives in charge and have a vision of not just what can benefit them in the immediate future, but what will benefit mankind going forward and give us a position of promise for generations to come. Tasking engineering, and mechanics to not only develop this type of resource, but also coordinating with computer engineers, and computer scientists as well as aerospace engineers to not only make the prospect a reality, but make it a renewable reality that will also turn a profit. The combination of utilization of resources and benefits to mankind as well as incorporating a sustainable business plan should be the agenda of most Fortune 500 companies moving forward. Regrettably, that style of thinking is often overshadowed by the immediate greed and shortsightedness of the upper one percent that we are all regrettably beholden to.
